"Atha" is a Sanskrit word meaning both 'Now' and 'Yes'. Referring to the origin story of the Kaula lineage of non dual Shaiva Tantra. When a man, visiting a cremation ground, came upon a wandering ascetic who seemed unfazed by the burning bodies and death surrounding him, he asked the wanderer "is it possible to escape the cycle of life and death, to be free?" the ascetic replied with one word "Atha!" meaning, Yes! and in this very moment! A simple yet powerful non-dual teaching. When we remember death, we also remember the preciousness of life. We become present in the here and now. Alive!
